Great great grandfather Henry (1814-1895) lived through most of the Victorian age, which, we are told, changed everyone’s lives. Both Henry and his grandson, John (1852-1915), began work at the pit when they were younger than my parents were when they finished school. How could you explain this picture to them?
As we all (at least on average) live longer, and are more likely to know more of our descendants, what will our great grandchildren experience that we cannot comprehend?
